Indian Retail Not Consumer Friendly Empty Indian Retail Not Consumer Friendly

Retail stores in India face huge gaps in modern retail design approach in spite of global brands flooding the market, a survey conducted by the apparel design and merchandising department of National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad indicates.
The sector is yet to provide its clients the complete retail experience. In what may come as a revelation to store designers, women shoppers are not spending enough time and money during their visit to these outlets due to the unpleasant shopping experience due to the crammed outlets, unpleasant mannequins and lack of seating arrangement to make their husbands comfortable while they shop.
Even some of the leading retail stores fail to take into account customers' preferences, mainly as they are yet to get down to the concept of 'retail designing' which includes the location selection as well as the inadequate customer services, quotes the report in ET.
Based on consumer feedback the survey, conducted in Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad recommends a few steps for the retail stores to increase footfalls and enhance consumers' shopping experience..
